To express gratitude to all city/township cleaning units, villages and communities for jointly maintaining the environment cleanliness of Nantou County, the Environmental Protection Bureau held an appreciation banquet on November 1st. It invited representatives from cleaning units and administrations that were awarded in the Environment Cleaning Assessment to participate!
Since 2015, Nantou County Government has carried out physical inspections without advance notification every season in every city, township, village, and community. The investigation includes assessments on environment cleaning and maintenance progress, the cleaning and maintenance condition of public washrooms, enforcement of environment polluting actions (such as littering cigarette butts, letting dogs foul the streets, dengue fever breeding sources, illegal small ads, and others), cleaning up unused places and houses, landscaping, and other cleaning and maintenance related items.
The first place of City/Township Group 1 was won by the Caotun Township Office. It has received the subsidy for four straight years, indicating that Caotun Township has performed well in environmental maintenance. The first place of City/Township Group 2 was won by the Renai Township Office. The first place of Village and Community Group was won by Lugao Community Development Association from Yuchi Township. The Nantou County Government has prepared a NT$1.9 million budget to award the five winning cities/townships and 10 villages/communities. Award winning administrations can further use the award to practice more environment cleaning actions.
Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen attended the banquet to expressed gratification to all cities, townships, villages, and communities for their daily hard work on cleaning up the environment. He expected that by awarding those who have brilliant performances with an actual subsidy, the Nantou County Government can encourage all its 13 cities/townships to jointly continue on maintaining a clean environment, create a more livable Nantou, and make the idea of environment cleaning to every corner of the county.
