Commonly used plastic container materials are classified into seven major categories: PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS, and others. Due to the diverse types of plastic materials, identification can be challenging. The Society of Plastic Industry (SPI) in the United States has established a set of triangular number codes composed of three clockwise-oriented recycling arrows, numbered 1 to 7, representing seven different types of plastic materials.
