FAQs

Q
How should household renovation and repair waste be handled?

1.For small quantities of waste generated from self-repair in households, such as waste wood and non-stone fragments from renovation materials, residents can properly sort and bundle the items for collection by garbage trucks or recycling vehicles. In the case of large volumes of discarded furniture, residents should transport them to the ground floor, dismantle to reduce the volume, and contact the cleaning squad of the local township or city office to schedule assistance with removal. Charges should be paid according to the fee standards of the respective local government. If the quantity is excessive or involves non-combustible waste, and the cleaning squad is unable to handle it, residents should engage qualified and legal waste removal organizations for assistance. Authorized removal organizations can be found on the website of the Resource Circulation Administration, Ministry of Environment.

2.When household renovation projects are contracted to businesses or construction companies (including comprehensive construction and civil engineering subcontractors), the waste generated during the construction process is classed as industrial waste. It should be legally entrusted to removal organizations for proper disposal. When contracting renovation services, residents should request that the service provider be responsible for waste cleanup.

3.Renovation and repair waste should be handled properly. Improper dumping or disposal that pollutes the environment may result in legal remedies under the Waste Disposal Act. Failure to clean up and remedy the situation within the specified period may lead to ongoing fines.
