Information and Reporting QR Codes for Managed Public Toilets

In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of public health and public convenience facilities. Nantou County Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB), in an effort to enhance the public health environment, has worked on creating high-quality public toilets that are “dry, odorless, and clean.” They have already completed the installation of QR codes for reporting in 1,085 managed public toilets throughout the county.

All you need to do is open the relevant scanning software on your mobile phone, scan the dedicated QR code inside the toilet, access the online reporting system, evaluate your satisfaction with the public toilet, and provide feedback on any areas that need improvement, offering real-time insights into the toilet's condition. This approach not only makes it more convenient for the public to use public toilets but also allows management to quickly understand maintenance issues. Your encouragement motivates the cleaning staff, and your suggestions serve as improvement goals for the management. Whether it's encouragement or suggestions, it all contributes to the hope for better maintenance of public health and hygiene.

The EPB has noted that in the past, public toilet hygiene and cleanliness were reported through a mobile app. Starting from 2021, they began implementing real-time reporting QR codes in tourist areas, which have been fully deployed across all managed public toilets in the county as of April this year. Since 2020, with the introduction of public toilet feedback QR codes, there have been 61 responses. Among these, 12 were positive reviews, with most highlighting the cleanliness and prompt maintenance of the public toilets. On the other hand, there were 49 suggestions for improvement, primarily related to the need for equipment enhancements, concerns about environmental cleanliness and dampness, and the replenishment of restroom supplies. There were an additional 3 miscellaneous suggestions. The EPB utilizes these reports from the public to guide and assist with the management of public toilets in need of improvement. They address issues and implement suggested improvements to provide the public with high-quality restroom facilities.

EPB Director-general Yi-shu Li has emphasized that the implementation of the public toilet reporting QR code system aims to provide residents and visitors with a more convenient and efficient public toilet experience. It also enables the rapid collection of feedback and opinions from the public, facilitating quicker issue resolution. Director-general Li urges the public to use public toilets responsibly, not litter, and collaborate in creating high-quality public toilets that are “dry, odorless, and clean.” This, in turn, enhances the overall image of Nantou County.
