To commend the volunteers who have assisted in the cleaning of the environment within the county for over the past years, who have sacrificed their break time to take time out of work and farm chores to protect the homeland environment throughout the whole year, the Environmental Protection Bureau, Nantou County Government has thus organized the 2021 and 2022 Awarding Ceremony for Outstanding Environmental Protection Volunteers in Nantou County.

Nantou County Magistrate Ming-Zhen Lin attended the ceremony to encourage all environmental protection volunteers and indicated through this awarding event that appreciation is shown to all environmental protection volunteers for their everyday dedication to the tourism capital of Nantou County, as well as to promote the volunteering service principles and to highlight the outstanding performances from the environmental protection volunteers, hoping to attract more county citizens in joining the environmental protection volunteering team, to maintain our environment via actual actions in order to build together a livable town of Blessed Nantou.

The event program has invited the Taiko Drum Team from Yan Feng Elementary School to take on the performance that unveils the ceremony, with guests including Jing-Xian Jian, the Chief of Caotun Township attending the ceremony. The current number of registered environmental protection volunteering teams is 207 with a total of 7,380 people in Nantou County, but to reduce clustering due to the epidemic situation, only a total of 169 environmental protection volunteers with a job tenure of 15 years are awarded this year. Appreciations to the volunteering partners for their long-term devotion to environmental protection services and environmental maintenance, as well as to reinforce volunteers’ sense of honor and team cohesiveness.

Yi-Shu Li, the Director-general of the Environmental Protection Bureau indicated that the cleanness of the entire community environment requires everyone’s participation to maintain; currently, the majority of the environmental protection volunteers within the county are seniors, and community youngsters are encouraged to join the community to become a volunteer, to make a contribution to own community, meanwhile, environmental protection can be valued by more people through the public awarding event!
