The applied version of recycling labels and graphical symbols for sightseeing areas in Nantou County

　In order to strengthen the promotion of waste sorting work in Nantou County and enhance the benefit of resource use, three recycling labels and graphical symbols were specially designed this year (the common version within the county jurisdiction, the applied version for sightseeing areas, and the applied version for rural areas) for download by the general public. The visualization of recycling labels and graphical symbols will aid the general public in clearly identifying how to implement waste sorting and achieve the effective recycling and reuse of recycled items, thereby reducing the amount of waste in Nantou County.

　Environmental Protection Bureau Director Li Yi-Shu emphasizes that as no incinerators are available in Nantou County, the assistance of other counties and cities is relied upon. However, since most incinerators are under annual repair, equipment upgrade and preparation, the trash in many towns and townships of Nantou County are being temporarily stored. On top of this, recyclables and food waste are still to be found after ripping open garbage bags to re-sort the contents. Therefore, through the setup of article classification and label examples, the general public’s notion of sorting at home can be reinforced. Residents in the county are requested to classify home waste into “trash”, “recycling”, and “food waste”, which should be properly placed in separate bags or boxes until they are handed to the recycling truck at hours designated for waste collection and transport by the cleaning squadron. Take action to reduce the generation of waste in Nantou County and reduce the transport and treatment of waste.

　The Environmental Protection Bureau reminds all that starting today, communities, schools, agencies, and business units can easily download appropriate recycling labels and graphical symbols at the Environmental Protection Bureau website. Users can correctly dispose of waste, which will reduce re-sorting at the rear end.

　Additionally, the Environmental Protection Bureau launches an appeal to take the first step toward environmental stability through waste sorting and recycling. The Environmental Protection Bureau shall also take the initiative to conduct various environmental protection and advocacy activities on a community level. All types of recycling promotion are available upon request. During the period, Environmental Protection Bureau staff will explain in detail environmental protection related information and instruct on how to distinguish recycled items and recycling approaches. This will in turn further deepen people’s knowledge of resource recycling and sustainable use, thereby encouraging active participation and implementation.
