Zero tolerance of littering Full recording with multipurpose enforcement cameras

Although a neater and tidier road environment is the wish of everyone, some low public-spirited drivers still litter, causing much trouble to frontline environmental cleaners.

The exit located on Fugan Road in Nantou City is the main access to National Highway No. 3 of Nantou citizens. Often some low public-spirited citizens litter the area for own convenience, bringing an unpleasant sight. The Nantou County Environmental Protection Bureau has thus teamed up with the Nantou City Cleaning Unit to use multipurpose enforcement cameras on that spot. In June citizens littering or practicing open defecation were caught. They will be charged in accordance with the Waste Disposal Act.

According to Yi-Shu Li, Director-General of the Nantou County Environmental Protection Bureau, to maintain the overall environment and stop the rot of littering in Nantou County, the Nantou County Environmental Protection Bureau gathers evidence 24/7 on that spot with multipurpose enforcement cameras and changes the camera position from time to time. It also urges drivers to maintain public spirit on the road by collecting litter in the car and throwing it in the litter box after getting out of the car. Littering drivers will be sanctioned in accordance with the Waste Disposal Act, with a maximum fine of NT$6,000. After all, littering harms others without benefiting oneself.
