　As the weather is now getting warmer, the mosquito season is approaching. In order to prevent dengue fever and other mosquitoes, in April, Nantou Environmental Protection Bureau entrusted qualified professional vendors to perform preventive environmental disinfection spraying operations in government offices and crowded places in 13 townships and towns. 
　Dengue is spread through the bite of the female mosquito carrying the dengue fever virus, which is transmitted to humans. The best way to reduce mosquito breeding sites is to prevent accumulation of water, which has been successful as rainfall this year has been low. However, as the water shortage situation still persists, people are at the same time storing water. Where water containers are not properly secured, they are prone to being a breeding site for mosquitoes.
　The EPB would like to remind people to keep an eye on their home environment and personal hygiene habits at all times, as well as safely storing food and disposing of garbage. By making this effort, not only is the breeding of vector mosquitoes avoided, but it also stops the spread of the outbreak. The EPB looks after the environment in Nantou to create a better quality of life for its people.
